Honoring a Local Veteran with a New Furnace This Veterans Day 2025

Special Forces Foundation Logo

As temperatures dropped in Pittsburgh, our team at J&A Heating, Cooling, Plumbing and Electrical had the privilege of giving back to someone who has given so much for our country. This Veterans Day, we installed a brand-new furnace for a local veteran whose heating system was more than 30 years old and struggling to keep his home warm.

This special project allowed us to support a family in need while honoring the service and sacrifice of one of our city’s heroes.

How J&A Helped Our Veteran Stay Warm This Winter

Pittsburgh winters can be unforgiving, and a reliable heating system is essential. When we learned that Jason’s furnace was failing, our HVAC team stepped in to install a safe, efficient replacement that would keep his family warm throughout the season.

Our installers spent the day removing the old unit, setting up the new furnace, and making sure everything was running smoothly. The goal was simple: give the family peace of mind and a dependable source of heat before the coldest days arrive.

We are grateful to the Special Forces community for connecting us with Jason and his family, and we were honored to play a small part in supporting them this holiday.

Jason (Veteran)’s Perspective

Jason, a retired Green Beret and Purple Heart recipient, shared what this upgrade meant to his family:

*“Being a retired Green Beret veteran means stepping up when your country asks — without needing attention or applause. I served because I believed in something bigger than myself. I was wounded in that service, and the Purple Heart reminds me every day of sacrifice, brotherhood, and the responsibility to keep moving forward.

For my family — my wife, Lisa, and our daughter, Nina — having this new furnace installed means stability and peace of mind. Pittsburgh winters are no joke, and knowing our home is warm and safe means I can focus on building our future instead of worrying about whether the house will be warm enough.

As a veteran starting over — rebuilding identity, career, and purpose — support like this means we are not forgotten. It means someone recognizes the weight veterans carry long after the uniform comes off.

We are truly grateful. From my family to yours — thank you.”*

Jason’s words remind us why it’s so important to support our veterans beyond their years of service.

Why Supporting Veterans Matters to Us
